Inspired by, NEW BOOK ALERT -Live Beyond Sunday

In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. His sons used to hold feasts in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.

~Job 1:1-5 NIV

A lot of people use the account of Job in the bible to try to discredit and misalign God's character, nature, and existence. They say God is angry and mean. I get asked all the time, 'if God is so loving why did He do that to Job? 'Well, what exactly did God do?  I think we should start there... What I like about the book of Job is that it tells us the issues right off the bat.  It tells us that Job's sons took turns having parties on their birthday. Ok, they got turnt up in their generation. It says, their parties lasted for days... that's what a period of time is... But it also says after that, Job would make arrangements for them to be purified. ok hold-up, let me finish. I don't know how they partied back then but, the brothers and and sisters had a lot of their daddy's money to work with and so...I can just image. But Job knew that these parties weren't pleasing to God so he would get up early morning and make burnt sacrifices for them. And...let's not forget...it was a regular custom of Jobs'. See, Job knew that there was a possibility that something happened to his children's hearts. Or why else would he say,  “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” So he was saying, not only something they did...but there is something I know about my kids heart that I think may be important to cover.  Oh My Gosh...let's continue... And he did it on a regular basis. So he was trying to protect them from what he knew about God. So here's the point. The issue with Job was fear. Job was living in fear. Job was living in fear because of his kids. And even more so fear is not an emotion but a spirit.  When you live in fear you have just opened a door of access to the devils that are assigned to this spirit. Job was godly but his fear opened the door and gave access to Satan. So did God do anything to Job? No. Job opened the door himself. Satan asked and received permission to now 'consider' job and his 'righteousness'. Let me pause and say this... You could right now be going through something brutal in life. Something that is crushing... but let me tell you it's not God being mad at you or punishing you. My friends, it's time to evaluate our life. Let's talk real quick about fear. Fear is not an emotion but it's a spirit that wants you to believe something that hasn't happened yet. But listen to this, faith wants you to believe something that hasn't happened yet. And here's the main thing... the choice is yours. Everyday we choose faith or fear. But if you think about it the scripture says, God has not given us a spirit of fear. So choosing fear will always lead to calamities and open doors. Again, its time to walk out our Jeremiah 29:11. Fear is not apart of our destiny. Close that door.
