And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption

Ephesians 4:30

The question of what music can I listen to once I am born again always comes up when you are a new believer. I mean it really does. So in today's devotion let's deal with music.  Once you become born again you have a new room mate. The Spirit of God now lives in you to help you acclimate to your new life, your new identity in Christ, your new home, your new language, and your new nation's constitution. Yeah ma'am. Yes sir. You got that new, new. All things new. See, the Holy Spirit as a person lives inside of us to assist us with life. God cares not only about your soul but also about our quality of life. The Holy Spirit's job is to ensure that the necessary adjustments are made so that we can enter into rest with Him after we leave the planet. This means God cares about how we live life. And as you know anytime you live with a room mate...cuz them devils was your room mate before God delivered you, cleaned you up and took residence... in other words you're sharing space. So the first thing you should consider is that you've been upgraded from death to life. Meaning your entire existence. And everywhere you go and in everything you do the Holy Spirit is with you. His job is to ensure that you are on the road to your Jeremiah 29:11. So now answer me this...if God is all about upgrading you, giving you life, and better things...Do you really think God's spirit wants to listen to music about raping, killing, adultery, fornication, suicide, mutilation, cheating, idol worship, chanting, devil worship, and the like? Paul uses the word "grieve" because the Holy Spirit is a personal being who has feelings and is affected by our actions. Grieving the Holy Spirit is not a literal sadness, but rather an offense to Him that disrupts our fellowship with God. So if you've ever felt God distant Himself from you after listening to certain music maybe it's because He doesn't like it and He has been grieved. So to answer your question you can listen to what you want but that doesn't mean the Holy Spirit will agree, like it, or stay. And what happens is when you drive away the very person whose job it is to make sure you have what God has ordained for your life in terms of quality, freedom, inheritance, and authority then you start losing in life. What you listen to matters. Consider the Holy Spirit and start asking Him if what you want to listen to is okay. Because He is gonna hafta listen to it too. The bottom line is if you knew how to navigate your life in order to be successful you wouldn't need Him. But since He has the blueprint for mankind left by Jesus we need Him. So if you hafta ask to listen to music that disrespects and disregards the Holy Spirit and the work that He has done in your life maybe the real question is do you wanna do life with The Holy Spirit. Today is a great day to take inventory and make a decision to live an undefeated life. Because the God in you won't let you lose. You are partnered with a winner so let win!
