For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
This morning I was thinking about the way we witness to others about Jesus. How we try to 'sell' them on a better life. We tell them all of these benefits of serving God but it was then I had another aha moment. What if, just maybe, some people were going to always stay lame and never walk again? What if others really had only just hours to live? What if another group of people would always stay poor and never attain anything? Would these things we say even matter? Would convincing them that The Lord's side was beneficially good ....even though it is...even matter? Of course not. My thoughts this morning are simply, Jesus is enough. Not Jesus plus benefits. I heard it put this way, 'Jesus plus nothing equals everything.' Because even if someone's life course on earth is destined for extreme heartache, pain and suffering, hardships, unfruitful living, sickness, and disease, etc... they will always find rest and comfort in Jesus Christ. My friends, this is why not only knowing the true gospel but preaching the true gospel really matters. Because the true gospel isn't about attaining things at all. The true gospel is about reconciling back to God. So that even if your portion on earth isn't pleasant you still made it back to who and where you belong. So it's not Jesus plus benefits. It's Jesus plus nothing equals everything. Put your hope and trust in Jesus so no matter what life brings, the Holy Spirit's voice can lead and guide you and give you Jesus. See, not only those who are hurting need to hear this. But those who are trying to take advantage of you to get advantages for themselves in life. You need to give those people Jesus as well. Because if you give them Jesus, then you've given them enough. Let every man live out their own portion with Jesus. Be excited for your portion and move in your own Jeremiah 29:11. Today is a great day to give 'em Jesus. Grace.
